Standard Terms and Conditions – Transport Requirements

Reasonable Access and Site Preparation

Before delivery, customers must ensure the delivery location is suitable and accessible for the delivery vehicle and container placement.

Please consider whether any obstacles may affect delivery, including but not limited to:

  • Low lying tree branches
  • House eaves
  • Power lines
  • Narrow or steep driveways
  • Narrow gates or entries
  • Boggy, soft, unstable or uneven ground

A level, hard surface is required for the placement of your container. If the truck becomes bogged, the customer will be liable for all associated costs.

If a container is delivered onto uneven ground, the container walls may twist, which can cause the doors to become misaligned and difficult or impossible to open and close properly.

Drainage and ventilation are also important. We recommend placing the container off the ground to allow airflow underneath and to avoid moisture sitting beneath the container. Suitable options may include sleepers, concrete blocks or crushed rock to encourage drainage.

Shipping containers are designed to be wind and water tight; however, proper drainage and ventilation are required to help maintain this condition.

Driver Discretion and Failed Delivery

All deliveries are at the discretion of our experienced drivers. If at any time the driver considers the delivery unsafe, likely to cause damage to the vehicle, the driver, the property, or if the site does not meet the requirements set out in this document, the driver may refuse delivery.

Customers must confirm before delivery that the site meets the required access and placement requirements. We recommend measuring driveways, gate entries, access points and the intended container placement area before delivery.

If the container must be returned to a holding depot due to non-delivery, failed access, unsafe conditions or unsuitable site preparation, all associated costs will be payable by the customer.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, delivery will be made in accordance with Containerco’s shipping policy.

Delivery dates provided by Containerco are estimates only until confirmed. Containerco will make reasonable efforts to deliver in accordance with estimated or confirmed dates; however, Containerco will not be liable for failure to deliver by an estimated date.

  • Containerco takes no responsibility if the yard refuses to load the pickup vehicle because it does not meet legal or yard requirements.
  • Customers should request vehicle and loading requirements before collection if they are unsure.
  • If a time slot is booked by Containerco and is not used or is cancelled, a cancellation or missed booking fee will apply, together with a rebooking fee of $25 plus GST.
  • Containerco takes no responsibility for delays when loading at the yard.
  • Containerco takes no responsibility for any damage, loss or failed delivery once the container has left the yard.
  • Any decisions made by the customer’s employed transport company are at that company’s own discretion.
  • Containerco is not liable for any fines received in relation to delivery or placement of the container.
  • Containerco requests that the driver or person collecting inspects the container before departure.

Self-pick up units cannot be returned once they have departed from the yard.

If redelivery of the unit is required, an additional transport charge will apply.
